WAITING LISTS. SCHILLACI: PLATFORM TO MONITORING THEM IN REAL TIME

A platform to “monitor the performance situation in real time with the related waiting lists, Region by Region”. It is one of the measures that the Minister of Health, Orazio Schillaci, has announced as a priority within the legislative decree on which the government is working and which should see the light in one of the next Councils of Ministers, perhaps in the one scheduled for 3 June. The idea on which the minister is working, therefore, is that of a platform “created together with the Regions, because – he made it known – I believe that we cannot shy away from the true needs of citizens”.< /p>

MEASLES. CONTINUED INCREASE IN CASES IN 2024, ISS: SINCE THE START OF THE YEAR THERE ARE 399

In the month of April 2024, 145 cases of measles were notified in Italy, an increasing number compared to both the cases recorded in March (127) and those in April 2023. This is what emerges from the latest bulletin of the system national epidemiological surveillance by the Istituto Superiore di Sanità, according to which 399 cases have been confirmed since the beginning of the year. “Since 2023 – the experts write – there have been significant increases in the number of measles cases and epidemics globally. Even in Italy, a notable increase in cases has been observed, in particular in the months of March and April 2024, the largest part of which occurred in unvaccinated people”.

TRIPTORELIN. AIFA ASKS SCIENTIFIC SOCIETIES FOR A LIST OF CLINICAL STUDIES

A list of clinical studies that have evaluated the use of triptorelin in the treatment of gender dysphoria, or the indications present in the main guidelines. This is the request that AIFA (Italian Medicines Agency), following a review of the scientific literature, addressed to scientific societies during a meeting that took place last week in Rome. The meeting was convened by the technical-scientific director of AIFA, Pierluigi Russo, with representatives of the Italian Society of Endocrinology (SIE), the Italian Society of Andrology and Sexual Medicine (SIAMS) and the Italian Society of Pediatric Endocrinology and Diabetology (SIEDP).

The screening, with the Oct exam, was aimed at the entire community with particular attention to the over 50s, given that approximately 10% of people between 65 and 74 years old and over 30% of the over 75s suffer from macular degeneration linked to ‘advanced age.

THE FIRST REGIONAL CONGRESS OF PHYSIOTHERAPISTS FROM LAZIO IN ROME

“The balance is extremely positive.” These are the words of the president of OFI Lazio, Annamaria Servadio, referring to the first Regional Congress of the Order of Physiotherapists of Lazio, which took place on Saturday 25 May in Rome at the Auditorium della Tecnica. ‘The prospects of physiotherapy in the Lazio region: equity, proximity, humanisation and sustainability of the Regional Health System’ was the title of the event, which was attended by numerous healthcare figures closely linked to that of the physiotherapist, including speech therapists, podiatrists , occupational therapists, orthoptists and ophthalmology assistants; but also neuro and psychomotor therapists of the developmental age, professional educators and psychiatric rehabilitation technicians.

PEDIATRICAL PHYSIOTHERAPY. SPECIALIST TRAINING AND RESEARCH IN CONSTANT GROWING. AIFI EVENT IN REGGIO EMILIA

An overview of the current developments of specialist training in the pediatric field present in Italy, with particular attention to research projects born within the university academic context and supported by the GIS Pediatric Physiotherapy, with the aim of promoting culture of physiotherapy in the pediatric field. It was with this aim that the training event entitled ‘Pediatric Physiotherapy in Italy: specialist training, research projects and clinical practice’ was held, organized by the GIS in Pediatric Physiotherapy of AIFI (Italian Association of Physiotherapy) last 18 May in Reggio Emilia.
