INNOVATION, ‘MANIFESTO FOR A COMPETITIVE ITALY’ SIGNED AT ANGI FORUM
The Manifesto for a competitive Italy under the banner of Open Innovation was signed on the occasion of the Young Innovators Business Forum held in Milan, organized by Angi, the national association of young innovators. The event brought together government, business and startup leaders who hosted a series of round tables and panel discussions on a variety of topics related to open innovation, artificial intelligence, competitiveness and the importance of greater harmonization of regulations to support the growth of the business and research & development sectors. At the center of the debates emerged the need to create an open and collaborative ecosystem that encourages the growth of innovative companies. “The important message we want to give – underlined the president of the Association, Gabriele Ferrieri – is to put young people at the center as the driving force for our economic and social path, for a new digital revolution which, like Angi, we want to experience from protagonists”.
FREE GAME FROM EU TO 2 BILLION FOR STMICROELECTRONICS CATANIA
Two billion euros from the EU in support of the STMicroelectronics plant in Catania for the creation of latest generation power chips. The plant is the first of its kind, the European Commission reports, announcing the green light for the investment. In particular, the Catania Campus project represents the first integrated silicon carbon production plant in Europe that covers all production phases, from powdered material to finished devices, including the manufacturing of silicon carbon modules, according to Brussels. . The approved measure is indicated as necessary and appropriate to ensure the resilience of the semiconductor supply chain in Europe. Catania Campus will therefore contribute to putting an end to the excessive dependence on imports of devices which are of fundamental importance for achieving the digital and green transition.
NUCLEAR, ENEA IN THE EUROPEAN ALLIANCE FOR SMALL REACTORS
Collaboration between research and industry is strengthened in Europe to promote the development of sustainable nuclear energy. Enea joins the European Industrial Alliance on small modular SMR reactors and also enters the summit of the European Snetp (Sustainable Nuclear Energy Technology Platform) network on sustainable nuclear technologies, which promotes the safety, reliability and efficiency of nuclear power civil. The Alliance’s focus is to encourage and coordinate the cooperation of European industry in the creation of small modular reactors to help decarbonise the European energy system and achieve the objective of climate neutrality by 2050. “SMRs can help reduce by 90% carbon emissions by 2040 and, at the same time, increase the strategic autonomy and resilience of the EU”, underlined Alessandro Dodaro, director of the Nuclear Department of Enea.
DTD AND IDMO IN THE FIELD AGAINST ONLINE DISINFORMATION
Digital Republic, the initiative of the Department for Digital Transformation of the Presidency of the Council of Ministers, and the Italian Digital Media Observatory Consortium, launch a communication campaign to combat online disinformation. Among the activities, a toolkit has been prepared which includes the link to the pills against disinformation created by Rai for the Italian Digital Media Observatory and available on RaiPlay. The toolkit will be used in the territorial centers for the dissemination of digital skills promoted by the Department – the Punti Digitale Facile – and by the organizations of the National Digital Republic Coalition through the organization of round tables, seminars, courses and webinars on this topic. The ‘Digital literacy to combat disinformation’ event will be held on 10 June in Rome, at the Sala delle Colonne on the Luiss campus, which will illustrate the campaign.
