We talk about Ostia Antica Festival, 'Ferrara under the stars' and 'Appointment in the garden'

IN THE CAPITAL FROM 17 JULY OSTIA ANTICA FESTIVAL AT THE ROMAN THEATER

From 17 July the extraordinary stage of the Roman Theater of Ostia Antica will come alive with the notes and protagonists of the Ostia Antica Festival which presents itself and announces some names of its first program signed by the newly formed RTI. We start with Vinicio Capossela and his ‘Ancient keys. From income. The fall of the empire and other collapses’, then on July 22nd the energy of Goran Bregovic, Bosnian composer and internationally renowned musician, will arrive, and on September 3rd the priestess of rock Patti Smith will take the stage with ‘Pasolini and the sea’ . On 6 September it is the turn of Amistade, the multimedia work by Flavia Mastrella and Antonio Rezza, co-produced by the Teatro di Sardegna and on the 7th Carmen Consoli arrives, with ‘Terra ca nun senti’, the concert-event with which ‘the singeressa’ pays homage to the Sicilian musical tradition.

FROM BLONDE REDHEAD TO PFM, ‘FERRARA UNDER THE STARS’ IS BACK

From Blonde Redhead to The Murder Capital, from Fantastic Negrito to Pfm, from Einstürzende Neubauten to Daniela Pes, Any Other and Ibisco, ‘Ferrara sotto le stelle’ has announced the line up of this twenty-eighth edition. The historic Emilian event confirms the desire to look at the most varied sound worlds, from rock to songwriting, through blues, post punk and electronics. And if the heart of the festival is confirmed from 3 to 8 June in the courtyard of the Estense Castle in Ferrara, the event is enriched with two appointments, on 8 and 9 July, in the Delizia Estense of Benvignante in Argenta and closes with the now a usual event in collaboration with Internazionale in Ferrara on 3 October at the city’s Teatro Comunale.

‘APPOINTMENT IN THE GARDEN’ FOR SATURDAY 1ST AND SUNDAY 2nd JUNE

On Saturday 1st and Sunday 2nd June ‘Appointment in the garden’ returns, the initiative promoted by the Italian Parks and Gardens Association as part of Rendez-vous aux jardins, an event which takes place simultaneously in over 20 European countries . ‘The five senses in the garden’ is the theme of this 2024 edition which aims to be an opportunity to introduce the public to gardens that are normally closed and to enrich the possibilities of enjoying gardens that are regularly open. The program involves gardeners, botanists, landscapers, private owners and public managers, foundations and associations with the aim of describing the universe of the garden, highlighting its fragility, cultural and environmental relevance and importance for the well-being of individuals and the community.

600 STOLEN WORKS RETURN TO ITALY FROM THE UNITED STATES

Bronze statues, gold coins, mosaics and manuscripts. Around six hundred unique pieces, antiquities looted and then resold, finally returned home. The United States has returned to Italy a stolen artistic heritage worth 60 million euros. Stolen works, sold to dealers who often forged or altered the documents of provenance to resell the loot at a high level. Final buyers: auction houses and museums. The artifacts, which range from the 9th century BC to the 2nd century, also include a life-size bronze figure, various bronze heads and Etruscan vases.
