FROM DIODATO TO MORCHEEBA, ‘VENERE IN MUSICA’ RETURNS TO ROME AT THE COLOSSEUM
In its third edition, ‘Venere in Musica’ returns to Rome from 19 to 23 June, the event created from the Colosseum archaeological park directed by Alfonsina Russo, curated by Fabrizio Arcuri who signs the artistic direction. Five free entry events in a unique setting in the world: the Temple of Venus and Rome, the largest sacred building built by the Romans (and one of the largest of antiquity), commissioned by Hadrian, built starting from 121 AD. and dedicated to the goddess Roma Aeterna and the goddess Venus Felix. It is here that Diodato, Morcheeba, Roma Traoré, Ginevra Di Marco, the Babelnova Orchestra, the Almar’à Orchestra and the most famous gladiator of all time, Russell Crowe, with his band The Gentlemen Barbers will perform.
CONTEMPORARY DANCE EN PLEIN AIR IN RUVO DI PUGLIA
From 20 June to 7 July ‘Le dancers en plein air’ arrives in Ruvo di Puglia, the international contemporary dance festival organized by the Company Menhir and dedicated to the famous tomb fresco ‘The dancers of Ruvo di Puglia’. Starting from this suggestion, the festival intends to open a reflection on the theme of the archeology of dance: a true anthropological investigation into the origin of the gesture. The spaces of the former Dominican Convent of Ruvo di Puglia and the Jatta National Archaeological Museum will host the dancers. The program includes 41 shows, returns of residences, performances with communities and special events. Three weekends in which Italian companies and companies from other countries around the world will alternate on the scene, including Lebanon, Greece and Germany, and hundreds of dancers, artists and choreographers.
THE ‘LA PRIMA ESTATE’ FESTIVAL AT LIDO DI CAMAIORE
Six days and eighteen artists, an ambitious and international line-up, Italian exclusives, a unique stage just a few steps from the sea to greet the arrival of the most loved season. La Prima Estate returns to Lido di Camaiore, in Lucca, from 14 to 16 June and from 21 to 23 June, ready to warm up the sand of Versilia once again. The event at Parco BussolaDomani is renewed for two weekends, perfect for true music lovers, far from the charts and trends of the moment. The program includes console icon Peggy Gou, the South Korean DJ crowned among the electronic deities who will be releasing her debut album in June; the bewitching charm of Paolo Nutini’s songwriting and the soft soul of Michael Kiwanuka, for the only Italian date. Again, from Versailles to the conquest of the whole world, the all-French coolness of Phoenix.
FROM 14 TO 16 JUNE THE ‘ARCHAEOLOGY DAYS’
A day as archaeologists, to discover the techniques and secrets of a profession capable of fascinating adults and children. Special guided tours, excursions and field workshops will enliven the ‘Archaeology Days’, scheduled from 14 to 16 June across Europe. Among the events organised, in Rome the youngest will be able to try their hand at a simulation of an archaeological excavation in the Imperial Fora area, while in Valle d’Aosta the invitation is ‘At the Bailiff’s house: discovering a city monument’, for visit the Torre dei Balivi accompanied by archaeologists. FAI will bring enthusiasts to Matera, where ‘Casa Noha’ offers a tour dedicated to the discovery of the ancient city of Herakleia.
