Taxi, the strike of 5 and 6 June has been revoked

The unions: "There has been an effective openness to dialogue from the government." The new meeting is scheduled for June 17th

ROME – The national taxi strike scheduled for June 5 and 6 has been cancelled. The decision comes after the meeting between the taxi drivers’ unions and the Ministry of Transport. “Considering the effective reopening of a dialogue and the desire to find concrete solutions to the problems posed, the trade union organizations decide responsibly to suspend the strike proclaimed for the days of 5 and 6 June, thanking the workers in the sector for the great attention and participation shown which led us to the reopening of the table”, explained Uiltrasporti, Ugl taxi, Federtaxi Cisal, Satam, Tam, Claai, Unione Artigiani, Unione Tassisti d’Italia, Uritaxi, Fast Confal taxi, Unica taxi CGIL, Orsa taxi, Usb taxi, Unimpresa, Sitan/Atn. The unions will be received again at the MIT on June 17.

The strike was called to ask the government to issue implementing decrees to regulate the sector. In particular, taxis are calling for the maintenance of the public concession system, the fight against illegal activity and the regulation of digital chauffeur booking platforms. “From the meeting that took place today, at the Ministry of Transport, in the presence of the deputy minister Edoardo Rixi, the desire to quickly approve the implementing decrees of law 12/19 in order to succeed to truly combat the widespread phenomena of unfair competition and illegal practices present in the sector which undermine the stability of the public service and its guarantees to protect users”, declared the unions.
