ROME – It was supposed to be a party, it turned intoa gigantic media bubble, which exploded in the last few hours. The event in Milan of Veralab, the company of the entrepreneur Cristina Fogazzi, known by the name of Cynical Beautician, is a coincidence. A party organized inside theBraidense National Library and in the Brera main courtyard, which sparked hundreds of negative comments. Reason? The recreational use of a place of inestimable cultural value, with the aggravating circumstance of the disparity in treatment with the rules to which visitors and tourists of the museum complex are usually subject.

“We as professionals can’t do guided tours, students can’t even bring water to drink, use gloves, a thousand prohibitions. Then a rude woman arrives to have a tasty meal and everything It’s allowed. It’s better not to go any further, I could be very offensive. You should just be ashamed!”, is the comment from Secret Milan, the page of the city’s tourist guide which is widely followed on social media.
“Shameful and disgusting to learn that we have sunk so low in organizing a banquet with food and drinks within a book heritage like ours, yes ours not yours because yes It’s a priceless common good, it’s not a place to let people camp out as you authorized. SHAME ON YOU”, writes a user.
“Good morning, next week my son will be 5 years old. Can you give me the room for 4 hours in the afternoon? I don’t know where to celebrate and it’s raining, I wanted stay indoors. Don’t worry, I have money to pay. Thanks”, another person comments ironically.
“Good morning, we are organizing a hen party with strippers. Is the room available on June 26th?”, we read again.
Interviewed by Corsera, Angelo Crespi, director of the Pinacoteca di Brerasince last December, replies as follows: “The practice of events is a practice that has existed at the Pinacoteca for 8 years, since Bradburne’s time. All ‘abroad is the norm. So many requests, I could rent the rooms every day.” Crespi also declared that Veralab paid “80 thousand euros, plus 15 thousand separately for the custodians. For those who run a museum, it is a duty to provide sustenance. We make a selection. We have so many requests that I could rent every day, but not I rent rooms.”
The director also responded to the accusations regarding the different treatment between the party participants and the students: “It’s true that no one can eat normally in there, or even in the art gallery. But the dinner was organized with catering in the courtyard and maximum respect for the rules: then they paid for cleaning, as happens in these cases, and in the morning the room welcomed the students”. If one of them is thirsty “he can drink. Not eat the sandwich. But these are two very different moments: dinner is a rare event, managed with all the cautions”.
The Instagram page of the Cinica Beautician has also been overwhelmed by criticism. “I’m very saddened,” said Cristina Fogazzi. “It has been written about ‘good taste’. Am I in bad taste? Why do I invite influencers? As if the guests at big brand dinners were other people. So perhaps the problem is that I am a daughter of the people. >Do I smell poor? Yes, they called me rich. But thank goodness there are rich people in a country where the social elevator has been at a standstill for years.”
