ROME – After the success of the first two, the third season of the series ‘Sissi’ will be broadcast tonight on Canale 5. The fourth was also announced last January: filming is underway.
THE PREVIEW
In what will one day be Europe, meanwhile, everything is happening. The Republic is proclaimed in France and Napoleon III is on the run. Franz fears that the revolts could also spread to Vienna and therefore, against Sissi’s wishes, decides that the nine-year-old Crown Prince Rudolph of Austria-Hungary begins military training. Sissi, worried, decides to escape, taking Rodolfo with her.
Meanwhile, work is underway in the kingdom on the realization of the World Exhibition of 1873, but the workers of the Prater ask for an increase in wages and a hot meal. After a serious accident, the workers’ movement takes action and attacks military transports to seize weapons. Bismarck, on the other hand, threatened to ally himself with Russia and form an alliance against Austria-Hungary. Franz, to mediate with the Tsar, asks Archduchess Sophie for help.
Franz finds Sissi again and, after a passionate encounter, disappears, taking Rudolf away. The Empress decides to go to Paris, where she indulges in absinthe and lovers… he does the same, but in Vienna. The Tsar announces his arrival for the opening of the World Exhibition and Franz intends to use the opportunity to negotiate an alliance: Alexander II presents a list of demands, among these the conquest of Crimea. Due to the strikes, the court lacks staff: Franz serves a plate of eggs to the Tsar. And, while the people are dying of hunger, Sissi proposes to the Tsar to form an alliance with Bismarck.
In the chaos of the moment, the little prince is kidnapped. Archduchess Sophie receives Chancellor Bismarck, while Sissi and Franz manage to locate Rudolf’s prison, but are discovered, taken hostage and the building they are in is set on fire. Bismarck, increasingly impatient, threatens to leave, but Grünne frees Sissi and Franz, who can hug their son again and rush to Vienna to continue the negotiations. The second episode will be broadcast on Thursday 13 June.
