Serena Doe and the case of Telegram chats, Selvaggia Lucarelli: “Infamous accusations”
The journalist intervenes on the case that is causing discussion on social media
ROME – A Telegram chat made up of 70 people, in which private information and images of some public figures were exchanged, commenting on the contents with “homophobic and sexist” words . These are the accusations againstSerena Doe, social media strategist and co-author of Selvaggia Lucarelli’s podcast ‘Il Sottosopra’.
SERENA DOE AND THE TELEGRAM CHAT
According to what was spread by some well-known people on social media, Serana Doe (whose real surname is Mazzini) participated in the dissemination of images and private information of various people, sharing them in a Telegram chat in which comments of sexism, homophobia and bodyshaming. The first to launch the accusations was Valeria Fonte, who with some stories on Instagram said she had become aware of this chat, of which she too was been a victim.
The writer was also joined by the activist and writer Carlotta Vignali, who said she too was involved. They were echoed by the popularizer Flavia Carlini, the researcher Silvia Semenzin and others. Meanwhile, Serena Doe had just announced that she was taking a break from social media. Vignali and Fonte’s statements immediately made the rounds on the web, leaving many users dismayed. Serena, in fact, is a character known for her battles on the topic of privacy and social media, especially with regards to young people.

After a practically immediate shitstorm on social media towards Serena, however, many raised doubts about the dynamics. There are those who say that she left that chat on April 30, that she was not its administrator and that she had never shared images or private chats of others. Also trying to give another point of view to the controversy was Selvaggia Lucarelli, with whom Serena collaborated for the popular podcast “Il sottosopra”. According to the journalist, a public figure was deliberately demonized without sharing “evidence” of the accusations and without reconstructing the facts. “To those who ask me for an opinion, I reply that there are no opinions on facts which at the moment are defamatory accusations whose solid and unequivocal proof is Instagram stories”.
In the meantime Fedez, who in the past has been criticized several times by Serena, shared a fairly clear story on Instagram, which was also echoed by that of his mother Tatiana. strong>
