Schlein with the CGIL: “I will sign to abolish the Jobs Act”. But the Democratic Party is split

The choice to sign or not the referendum proposed by the CGIL to repeal the Jobs Act divides the Democratic Party. "No problem - says Schlein - we are a plural party"

ROME – The secretary of the Democratic Party reiterates her choice to sign the CGIL referendum which calls for the abolition of the Jobs Act: “We always look with interest at the union’s initiatives. It’s not a surprise, I said from start that many of the Democratic Party would have signed and so did I, who already in 2015 was in the streets with the CGIL against the abolition of article 18. I believe that even today the issue of how we intervene on unfair dismissals is still relevant today”, says the Dem leader interviewed by RTL.

After all, recalls Schlein, the issue “was a fundamental point of the electoral campaign we did for the primaries last yearand it is a point of mending with respect to somebad choices of the past which evidently even our voters who rewarded us in the primaries did not consider fair”.

“WE ARE PARTY PLURAL, I RESPECT THOSE WHO WON’T SIGN”

No problem, according to the secretary of the Democratic Party, regarding the choice that some in the party will not sign to support the referendum questions: “The Democratic Party holds congresses like no other party, it discusses and then defines a line, which is one. This does not mean ceasing to be a plural party, as I said that many would have signed I said that others legitimately will not. The underlying issue is that the party is united for the European elections, we have voted very strong lists unanimously”.
