ROME – A few hours after the official announcement of Carlo Conti as the next artistic director and host of Sanremo 2025-2026, Codacons has launched an appeal to the presenter to stop the singer selection criteria followed by Amadeus for the last five years. “We ask Conti to break with the past and move away as much as possible from the path traced by Amadeus”, explains Codacons. “Music must be brought back to the center of the event, because in recent years the choices that have affected the Festival have gone in the sole direction of guaranteeing the broadcast a very young audience and the attention of social networks >, to the full detriment of the quality of the songs in competition”.

“In this sense we ask Carlo Conti to establish a specific technical commission for the choice of songs for the next festivals, which takes into account the real value of the songs and the artists who perform them, and not the number of followers on social media or the views on the web guaranteed by the singers, nor their temporary notoriety linked to participation in singing talent shows”, writes the association. “Finally, considering the serious problems on the televoting and hidden advertising front that have affected the last Festivals, Codacons asks Conti to provide for the participation of a representative of consumer associations in all phases of Sanremo, to guarantee transparency towards the public”.
