Saman Abbas’ father: “Danish and my nephews killed her”

ROME – During the episode of ‘Quarto Grado’, broadcast this evening, Friday 31 May, on Retequattro, a video of the deposition, which took place in Modena prison on 19 April last, was broadcast exclusively by < strong>Saman Abbas’ father, Shabbar, in the presence of the PM and his lawyers. Shabbar contests the first instance sentence, in which he and his wife Nazia Shaheen (just arrested by the Pakistani authorities and awaiting extradition) were sentenced to life imprisonment for the murder of their daughter Saman. The man tells another, unpublished, version of the events that took place in Novellara, in the province of Reggio Emilia, dating back to 1 May 2021. The sentence, which also sentenced Saman’s uncle to 14 years in prison, Danish, acquitted the girl’s cousins, Ikram Ijaz and Nomanulhaq: and it is precisely against the latter that Shabbar lashes out, accusing them of having committed the crime together with Danish. Abbas told the magistrates that he had only ordered a punitive expedition against his daughter’s boyfriend, Saqib. And he claims to have been threatened if he told the truth.
Here’s what he said: “It’s true that Saman is dead and that she was killed. But it’s also true that she wasn’t killed by just one person: that evening there was more than one
strong>. How did Danish make that hole by himself? Was there anyone else? Shabbar says he asked for a punitive expedition against Saqib: “I had told him not to hit him hard, so as not to make the ambulance arrive, but only to hit him to scare him. When I called Danish he told me that they would all three went: him, together with Saman’s cousins, Ijaz and Nomanulhaq”. Then you go out and don’t see or hear anything?, they ask him. “No, I didn’t hear anything, not even a voice.” Did all three kill his daughter? “Yes: I immediately understood it was all three.” The man says that they had threatened his son if he spoke. And then the words for his wife: “You didn’t kill Saman. A mother always cries for her daughter. I just want justice for my daughter. I’m staying in prison, there’s no problem, I have nothing left outside anyway. When I hear on television that my wife and I killed our daughter, it hurts me a lot.”
