Salvini: “Austria should be ashamed of the 80 kilometer queue”

"We hope that similar episodes will never happen again," says Salvini

ROME – “The 80 kilometers of trucks queuing on the A22 motorway, caused by the ban on the circulation of heavy vehicles imposed by Austria, are an environmental, economic and social disgrace. Could this be the European spirit, this collaboration between peoples? We hope that similar episodes will never happen again and we hope that the European institutions – after pretending nothing happened for years – will intervene in defense of the Italy but above all of legality”. Salvini’s anger is linked to the maxi queue of trucks, 80 kilometers long, which formed this morning on the Brenner motorway towards the pass, after the traffic ban yesterday in Austria due to the feast of the ascension of Christo.

The deputy prime minister and minister of transport and infrastructure Matteo Salvini continues: “We count on the Court of Justice, to which the Italian government has appealed, to put an end to the arrogant and illegitimate attitude of the Austrian government, which creates enormous damage to the environment and economic freedom”.
