ROME – Salvatore Iannicelli, Chief Security Officer of the FS Group, has been appointedPresident of Colpofer (Collaboration des services de police ferroviaire et de sécurité).
This is the association that brings together the security organizations of the main European railway companies.
Founded in 1980, it is composed of 28 members from 22 different nations. Since 1997 it has been transformed into the Special Group of the UIC (Union International Chemin de Fer), a global body that brings together all operators in the railway sector and whose President in Europe is the CEO of Fs Stefano Donnarumma.
“I would like to thank all the members of the Colpofer Board for their support and trust. I am honored to be able to lead this organization, for which I intend to continue along the path of progress and innovation already undertaken by those who preceded me – Salvatore Iannicelli highlighted – I am convinced that we will successfully collaborate to realize our vision towards a harmonization of railway safety and to complete all the objectives outlined in our annual program, in line with the commitments of the UIC roadmap for a safer, more efficient and sustainable railway system”.
Combating illicit behavior in the railway sector and improving the safety standards of infrastructure and transport: this is Colpofer’s mission.
How? By promoting synergies between railway police forces and railway companies’ security organizations.
The appointment of Salvatore Iannicelli was voted unanimously during the 78th Colpofer General Assembly held yesterday in Brussels. The assembly took place within the broader 1st Symposium organized by Colpofer and Railpol, the European association of railway police forces.
