His death represents a tragic testimony to the cruelty inflicted on non-human animals in name of profit and indifference. We will continue to fight so that no other animal should suffer a similar fate, and for a world in which every creature can live free from exploitation and violence.” Thus, in a press note, Nadia Zurlo, LAV Equidi Area manager, comments on the sentence of the Court of Santa Maria Capua Vetere (Ce) which sentenced the former coach driver to one year’s imprisonment for killing animals who worked at the horse-drawn service of the Royal Palace of Caserta, tried for having caused the death of Found Goal Pag on 12 August 2020.
The judge, explains the note, “recognised the criminal responsibility of the woman, guilty of having denied the horse received essential rest and care during its ‘work’ under the relentless sun of that summer day. The absence of water and excessive effort led the horse to suffer a profound state of dehydration, culminating in heat stroke. fatal and in the cardiac arrest that led to her death. For this reason, the accused was sentenced to one year in prison”.
