Rome dedicates the small park of San Basilio to Ultimo: “This is his ‘Elsewhere’”

Mayor Gualtieri was present at the naming ceremony. The singer-songwriter: "My vocation and my poetry were born here"

ROME – The San Basilio park becomes “the little park of Ultimo“. With a dedication and a plaque the Municipality of Rome thanks the singer-songwriter who is very close to his neighborhood. “The city of Rome thanks Ultimo, a singer-songwriter born and raised in the capital, whose flag he proudly carries, for having enhanced and embellished this place. This is Ultimo’s Parchetto, his “Elsewhere”, a symbol that tells the story, the friendships of a lifetime, the first notes of the songs of an artist profoundly proud of his origins, his territory and his neighborhood,San Basilio strong>”. This is the wording on the plaque which, from today, renames the green space of San Basilio ‘Parchetto di Ultimo’. The dedication took place in the presence, among others, of the mayor of Rome Roberto Gualtieri. The singer-songwriter himself gives the news on Instagram.

“I spent countless nights and countless days in this little park, with lifelong friends and even alone – writes Ultimo – I listened to my songs, I cursed things for the way they were going, because all my attempts to make them known didn’t work All of my vocation and my “poetics” (give me the term) were born here. I attended nursery school, elementary school and even middle school in front of it”, recalls Ultimo. .
Every verse of my first songs passed through here. I never thought I would see my name linked to this place by the municipality of Rome. My hope is that this space become a place of motivation for girls and boys, because if I did it without even the slightest recommendation from anyone, just with a piano and my words, anyone can really do it. I would like to look Niccolò in the face 10 years ago and tell him that those hanging dreams would soon find a home. Actually, maybe not, I wouldn’t tell him anything. I would hug him tenderly and tell him: “You’ll be right”.
