Regional elections in Liguria, Salvini breaks the taboo on Toti: “We are here also thanks to him”

GENOA – Everyone is here to applaud Marco Bucci, tonight at the Magazzini del Cotone in Genoa, together with Giorgia Meloni, Matteo Salvini and Antonio Tajani. All except one. The former governor of Liguria Giovanni Toti. His name seems taboo, until Salvini comes on stage: “If we are here it is also thanks to nine years of good government by Giovanni Toti, there is nothing to erase”. But the applause is not so convincing. The leader of the League is the only one to mention the name and surname of the former president. After all, Bucci himself had said it shortly before on “Un giorno da pecora”, on Rai Radio1: “Toti is not expected, he is not part of the electoral campaign“.
That he would be the stone guest, his former spokesperson and candidate with Vince Liguria, Jessica Nicolini had easily predicted: “I do not forget who we are thanks to in playing this game – she wrote on social media – thanks Giovanni Toti, now let’s go win for you too”. Words reciprocated by Toti himself who, again via social media, reiterated his endorsement for the journalist, together with that for Giacomo Giampedrone in La Spezia, quoting Tony Blair: “One of the first and most important tasks for those who are in politics and have governed is to form a team. They are the people who will carry out the projects, guide them, support them in difficult times”. Then the appeal to vote: “In Liguria we have built a great team. Now it’s up to you to support it. Vote for the Orange List Vince Liguria-Bucci president and give preference to those who have truly changed Liguria for the better, without ever backing down even in difficult times. There are those who talk about the change in the region in recent years and those who have truly done it together with me. In Genoa on the preference line write Jessica Nicolini. This way Liguria will remain in good hands”.
