Redditometer, Meloni: “There will be no fiscal Big Brother. If necessary, we will make changes”

Giorgia Meloni intervenes after the controversy over the return of the income meter: "I will personally discuss with the deputy minister Leo. If changes are necessary I will be the first to ask for them"

ROME – “No ‘big fiscal brother’ will ever be introduced by this Government. I have always been against invasive income measurement mechanisms applied to ordinary people. The implementation of the fiscal delegation, carried out in in particular by the Deputy Minister of Economy Leo, has so far gone in the direction of improving the relationship between State and citizen, protecting honest workers and counteracting the great tax evasion, that, so to speak, of >so-called have-nots with villas, boats and supercars“. Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni wrote it on social media after the controversy over reintroduction of the income meter, an anti-evasion system that checks a whole series of expenses made by taxpayers to compare them with the declared income and find evaders.

“We will continue in this direction – he adds -, always on the side of the citizens. On the latest decree recently passed by the Mef, which in its intentions delimits the verification action of the financial administration, I will personally discuss with the deputy Minister Leo, who I also asked to come and report to the next Council of Ministers. And if changes are necessary I will be the first to ask for them“.
