Record-breaking Verstappen at the Emilia-Romagna GP: seventh pole position in a row

In tomorrow's race, 19 May, the Dutch driver will start from pole position: it is the seventh pole position in a row, a record that was already held by Alain Prost in 1993

ROMA – Max Verstappen protagonist again. The Dutch driver will start from pole position in the Emilia Romagna GP, thanks to the best time achieved in qualifying in Imola. This is the seventh consecutive pole this season, thus equaling Alain Prost’s record from 1993. Behind him were the two McLarens: that of Oscar Piastri, which however risked a penalty for having obstructed Magnussen, and that of Lando Norris. Fourth and fifth times for the Ferraris of Charles Leclerc and Carlos Sainz.

“Today we didn’t reach our goal and now we have to focus on where we can gain on a technical level to be faster in the next races, given that from some GPs we know we need to improve in the first sector – said Leclerc -. Until this morning Our competitors had not shown their full potential, and from yesterday to today they have improved more than us.”

“Our new aerodynamic package has provided the results we expected but we will need some track sessions to identify how to extract its maximum potential. So far this year, race pace has been an excellent weapon for us. Tomorrow we will do everything to make our fans proud“.

Carlos Sainz instead said that “we knew that it would be difficult on this track on Saturday. I struggled to be consistent with the Softs and I didn’t have my best qualifying in all honesty. However, we are still in a good position to fight and, even if overtaking in Imola is not easy, tomorrow’s race could offer many opportunities that we will have to be good at seizing while always remaining focused. We will give our all until the checkered flag to give a great race to our fans they never stop supporting us.”
