Real Madrid never stops: European champion for the 15th time

ROME – Real Madrid won the Champions League by beating German Borussia Dortmund 2-0 in the final in London with goals from Carvajal in the 74th minute and Vinicius in the 83rd minute. For the Spaniards it is the 15th triumph in the European Cup-Champions League. The fifth as coach instead for Carlo Ancelotti, who also won two as a player.

The opportunity created after twenty minutes was sensational, with Adeyemi alone in front of Courtois, but first the goalkeeper with an excellent exit and then Carvajal on the diagonal attempt saved Real Madrid. Three minutes and the Blancos’ defense was once again ‘pierced’ centrally by Borussia and this time, following Fullkrug’s touch, it was the post that saved Ancelotti’s team. But apart from Carvajal, ready to launch into attack, the rest of the teammates remained lazily on their own. The cover man Bellingham is gone, Rodrygo impalpable, Vinicius inconclusive. In short, the protagonist at Real remained Courtois, once again good at putting his fists on Fullkrug’s diving header. ‘Blank’ wall. The ‘yellow wall’ of Dortmund fans instead went from chants and applause to silence in an instant. Enthusiasm for Reus’s entry onto the pitch, in his last match after a career with Borussia, and then everyone struck dumb by the spark that changed the match. Still on the Kroos-Carvajal axis, with the usual precise corner kick from the immense midfielderand the winning header from the defender. Dortmund ended up there, and Real Madrid gained access: they came close to doubling their lead twice in a few minutes and then definitively knocked out the ‘played’ Borussia with a left-footed shot from Vinicius.
