Psd’Az disaster in the municipal elections, thus the oldest party in Italy risks disappearing in Sardinia

The Quattro Mori are unable to elect even one councilor in Cagliari, Sassari and Alghero. And the group no longer exists in the Regional Council

CAGLIARI – After the Regional Council, the Psd’Az also disappears from the political maps of the main cities of Sardinia. The outcome of the administrative elections just passed is disastrous for the Sardinians, with the Quattro Mori who in the three most important cities of the island called to vote – Cagliari, Sassari and Alghero – they were unable to place even one municipal councilor.
In the capital the Sardinians obtained 1,578 votes and 2, 32%, in Sassari, on ticket with Alleanza Sardegna, 922 preferences (1.58), in Alghero 682 (3.15). Alfonso Marras, Sardinian regional councilor and newly elected mayor of Bosa, keeps the honor of the Four Moors high on the island. A little short for the more than one hundred year history of the oldest party in Italy, which will remember 2024 as its annus horribilis: in addition to the flop of the administrative elections, the Psd’Az no longer exists as a group in the assembly, after the internal war that convinced two of the three elected regional councilors, Gianni Chessa and Piero Maieli, to leave the party.

And it was Maieli himself who intervened in the aftermath of the flop: “I’m saddened, the party doesn’t deserve all this – explains the regional councilor now in the Misto group-. The result of the administrative elections is proof that a congress can be rigged, but not the will of the Sardinians. It is clear that voters have a revulsion towards this party, but not because of the ‘box’, but of the contents”. The ruling class of the Psd’Az “is repellent towards the Sardinian electorate, and therefore punishes its candidates – adds Maieli -. If it is true that the secretary Christian Solinas and the president Antonio Moro love the Psd’ Az, they must leave their positions immediately. Only in this way will the party be able to begin a tiring recovery”.
