Premier Meloni: “I advise caution to Stoltenberg.”. Toti resign? “Only he can answer”

The Prime Minister responds to the microphones of "Mezz'ora" on the main current issues. "No fear of the referendum" and "No alliance with the left" at the European elections

ROME – The Ligurian investigation and Toti’s future, the possible escalation in Ukraine, the referendum on the Premiership, the Palestinian conflict and of course the European elections: Giorgia Meloni, guest by Monica Maggioni , in “Mezz’ora” on Rai 3, intervenes and responds this afternoon on the main current issues.
Invited to comment on her recent declaration on the outcome of the reform, “it’s make or break”, the prime minister confirms her determination: “I’m not scared of the idea of the referendum and I will never consider it a referendum on me but on the future of the country.” And she continues: “I will reach the end of my 5 years and there I will ask the Italians to be judged. The rest are the hopes of the left”. More specifically, on the reform: “We have not touched the role of the Head of State, modifying 7 articles and without distorting the constitution”.The premiership “does something useful for anyone– go ahead- allow to those who govern to have a popular mandate” and to govern for 5 years.

TO STOLTENBERG: “YOU MUST BE VERY CAREFUL

Across the board also on international politics. Starting from the “brake” on the recent declarations of the secretary general of NATO regarding the sending of weapons to Kiev to directly strike Russia. “I don’t know why Stoltenberg says something like that, you have to be very cautious. I advise caution”, says Meloni. And the words on a possible escalation of the conflict in Europe are of the same tone: “I think that, given that war always brings unknowns, this alarming story according to which Europe is on the brink of a conflict seems counterproductive to me of much broader scope. And the game of those who feed this story “for a few more votes” is irresponsible

“AVOID AN ISRAELI ENTRY INTO RAFAH”

Moving on to the Middle East: We must “work towards a sustainable ceasefire. Averting an Israeli entry into Rafah. And strengthening the PA is a fundamental step”. He then launches an invitation to Israel: “What I see is that Israel is risking slipping into the trap that the fundamentalists have set for it.” And that is “isolate Israel. This is happening. We must reiterate to Israel that it respects international law”.

“MY OBJECTIVE IS TO SEND THE LEFT TO THE OPPOSITION IN EUROPE TOO”

Finally, the European elections: “I’m not willing to form majorities with
the left, everything else can be seen
“, says the prime minister to the journalist of “In half an hour” . “We are not in the historical period in which we can afford a weak Europe that makes downward compromises. I want a Europe that has a vision”. And again: “I’m not used to giving licenses of
presentability”, also because “they were given to me for a lifetime. The citizens decide these things. My main objective is to build an alternative majority to the one that has governed
in recent years.

“TOTI RESIGN? ONLY HE CAN ANSWER”

Returning then to Italian politics and the recent judicial events involving the Liguria Region: to the question about the president’s resignation “I think that only Toti can give an answer to this question. Only he knows the truth”, he replies. “He is a person who has always had his region at heart – he comments – and is therefore in a position to evaluate what is best for the citizens of the region”. “I haven’t had the opportunity to talk to Giovanni Toti – he concludes – and it’s difficult to be able to have a complete idea about this story. For the future I would like”, and this applies to everyone, “that between when there ‘It is a request for precautionary measures and when it is carried out months will not pass.’
