ROME – “I don’t think I’m revealing anything secret in telling you that Pope Francis will be visiting the Capitol on June 10th.” This is what was announced by Father Massimo Cocci, chaplain of the local police of Rome Capital, at the end of the welcoming ceremony for the new officers of the Corps which was held today.
“We are happy and honored by this visit. I am very happy and I truly thank the Holy Father for this honor he has given us. It will be a joy for everyone to receive Francis here in the Capitol: we can’t wait “. Thus the mayor of Rome, Roberto Gualtieri, on the sidelines of the visit of the mayor of New York to the Capitol, commenting on the news of Pope Francis’ upcoming visit to the Municipality of Rome.
“Anything special to celebrate this visit? – he added – Everything in its time. He last came in 2019, we are happy that it was possible to do it a few years after the previous one, it is an uncommon fact. But Pope Francis loves Rome, he has a very strong relationship with this city” .
