BOLOGNA – A deputy inspector of the Milan ‘flying squad’ is hospitalized in serious condition at the Niguarda hospital after being stabbed during the night during the arrest of a 37-year-old of Moroccan origins who was annoying people in > Lambrate stationand throwing stones at trains. The injured policeman is called Christian Di Martino, 35 years old, and was struck three times in the back. During the night, he underwent emergency surgery after being transported in code red to the Niguarda hospital.

THE FACTS

The ‘flying’ police intervened at the station around midnight, at the request of the railway police who were dealing with the fury of the 37-year-old Moroccan: he appeared to be in a strong state of agitation and had thrown stones at the trains but also against some passers-by. A woman, in fact, had been hit in the head (she was transported to Fatebenefratelli in non-serious conditions). The police officers who intervened tried to stop the man, also using the taser, but it did not work as expected, perhaps due to the type of jacket worn by the foreigner. The 37-year-old, who is illegal and has a history of crimes against people and property and resisting a public official, lashed out at the sub-inspector and eventually hit him in the back with the knife. He was then arrested and is now in San Vittore prison.
