Pnrr, Schlein worried about cuts to municipalities: “Melons queen of austerity”

From Siena the leader of the Democratic Party raises the alarm: "It will be possible to build kindergartens but there will not be the money to pay the educators"

ROME – “The cuts that the Meloni government is making to the municipalities are very serious, 250 million. Above all, the completely senseless choice to cut more those municipalities that are most spending resources for the Pnrr”. The secretary of the Democratic Party Elly Schlein says so in Siena. “I would like us to be clear – he adds -, with the Pnrr the walls of nursery schools can be built, but with Giorgia Meloni’s cuts there will not be the resources to pay the educators who work there. So, they risk remaining cathedrals in the desert. These cuts are serious in a situation in which the municipalities were already tired from previous years, from the pandemic, from the energy crisis we join the mayors who are denouncing these dangerous cuts for the development and future of their communities”.

“Giorgia Meloni – underlines – is thus confirmed as the queen of austerity. We will continue to insist that instead we need more resources for the social sector, more resources to accompany the investments of the Pnrr also those on healthcare. With these cuts there is a risk of not being able to pay the staff in the community homes that are being built with Pnrr funds. So we really ask and demand that the government reviews these choices which can translate into a limitation of access to fundamental services by citizens”.
