At the head of the procession, among others, was the General Secretary of the CGIL, Maurizio Landini: “Cease fire immediately – he declared – we are not willing to accept that war has returned to being the instrument that regulates the relationships between states and nations, in the face of a crisis of diplomacy and a crisis of this nature it is time for the people of peace and the people to take their voices back. The government should not have abstained from the UN resolutions. The Italian government and all governments should give voice to those who say cease fire and stop those who are massacring people. Europe was born to prevent the third world war and today it is not playing this role”. For Landini, what Israel is doing “is not only damaging because it is massacring the Palestinian people, I believe it is also suicide for the people of Israel. The hatred that is being created must be stopped or it will only generate more hatred. Slug”:”vimeo”} –>
In addition to Rome, the marches took place in Milan, Turin, Florence, Cagliari, Bari and Palermo, involving a large number of demonstrators: “In all the cities the news we receive is positive news – continues Landini – in Florence more than 30,000, in the north unfortunately both in Turin and Milan it is raining, but there were many people in Bari, Palermo and Cagliari this morning”.
