Patrizia Caselli: “I have stage three cancer”. The announcement of Craxi’s latest partner

ROME – Patrizia Caselli broke the silence and spoke for the first time, on the pages of Corriere della Sera, about the diagnosis she received last February: “I have lung cancer in third stage out of fourI’m terrified, I’m not ready to leave my son. This was the diagnosis received last February. After an operation in which part of her lung was removed, the presenter began the first cycle of chemotherapy. “At the Milan Polyclinic they removed half my right lung and some lymph nodes were found to be in metastasis, something that not even the doctor expected. I had hoped that chemo wouldn’t be necessary, but now I’ve started it”, Caselli recalled. “The worst moment? It was telling my son Francois the news. He replied ‘we’ll get through this too'”. The same words that we also repeated during the separation from his father (Alberto Bossi, a doctor, ed.).
WHO IS PATRIZIA CASELLI?
Patrizia Caselli began working in the 70s in the world of advertising and cinema with Nanni Loy. Subsequently, she began working as a showgirl and presenter alongside Walter Chiari, with whom she had a long relationship. “He saw me in the theater and had me called for an audition. I was 19 and he was 36”, said Caselli. In the life of the famous host there were his girlfriend Marina Occhiena (former singer of Ricchi e Poveri) and Anna Maria Rizzoli. “You have to make space for yourself like in the game of three chairs. There were other women. It took time to make it official.”
In the early 80s he also recorded some 45s as a singer and also worked in the theatre, in the show ‘Have you ever tried with hot water?’, with Chiari and Ivana Monti and with Domenico Modugno< /strong> in the re-release of the comedy ‘A girl fell on my plate’.
Subsequently she made her debut on Rai in the Rai 2 summer variety show ‘Bella d’estate’ again alongside Walter Chiari and then appeared in the cast of ‘Chiriamo in Ballo?’, broadcast on the same network, presented among the others by Gigi Sabani and the following year he conducted ‘Master 88’ solo. He worked with Luciano Rispoli in the program ‘La rete’ on Rai 2, with Piero Vigorelli in ‘Detto tra noi’.
PATRIZIA CASELLI, THE RELATIONSHIP WITH BETTINO CRAXI
After breaking up with Chiari, due to some of his betrayals, Caselli met Bettino Craxi. After 1994 he abandoned the world of television, breaking the contract with Rai to follow Craxi to Hammamet. They were together for 9 years, from 1991 to 2000, until his death (January 19, 2000). Their relationship was also hinted at in the film ‘Hammamet’ by Gianni Amelio with Pierfrancesco Favino as the former leader of the Italian Socialist Party and Claudia Gerini as Patrizia Caselli. “It wasn’t an easy trip because his wife Anna and daughter Stefania were also in Tunisia. I was careful not to go to the places Anna frequented. Craxi tried to have lunch or dinner with me every day I moved house eight times: once, I found everything upside down and a machete on the bed”, recalled Caselli, who concluded: “I’m happy to have followed him because today I can say: in the end, I am a woman of feelings; for love, I break the bank“.
