This edition talks about Sunday's vote in Liguria; about Alcide De Gasperi; about the unions in the square and about nuclear power

LIGURIA. LAST RALLIES, SUNDAY WE VOTE

Last rallies and then the electoral silence before the polls. On Sunday and Monday, Liguria will vote to elect Giovanni Toti’s successor. The center-right candidate for the presidency of the region is the mayor of Genoa Marco Bucci, while the center-left is fielding former minister Andrea Orlando. Italia Viva is out of both coalitions and officially does not support either of them. A head-to-head is expected. To mobilize voters, and especially the undecided, national leaders have taken action, beating the region until the end. Meloni, Tajani and Salvini have spent themselves for Bucci; while Giuseppe Conte and Elly Schlein took off in Orlando.

THE CHAMBER REMEMBERS ALCIDE DE GASPERI AT 70 YEARS OF DEATH

The Chamber of Deputies remembers Alcide De Gasperi 70 years after his death. The commemoration was attended by the Head of State, Sergio Mattarella, and the President of the European Parliament Roberta Metsola. The host, the President of the Chamber Lorenzo Fontana, recalls that De Gasperi “paid dearly for his anti-fascism”. Then, he underlines how his Europeanism is still “current”. Roberta Metsola also looks to the continental inspiration: “De Gasperi – she says – had understood that to give Italy a future it was necessary to invent a future for Europe”.

UNIONS IN THE SQUARE. LANDINI: “THE GOVERNMENT IS KIDDING US”

Unions in the square for the eight-hour national strike of non-metallic automotive component workers. They are the workers in the rubber, plastic, glass, textile and chemical sectors who are asking to protect the supply chain, which has 45 thousand people, from the crisis and the risk of further delocalizations. In Piazza Santi Apostoli, in Rome, Maurizio Landini returned to criticize the government for safety at work. “An average of 3 workers continue to die every day and accidents are increasing – he says – the government has only made bureaucratic interventions that absolutely do not address the problems”. For the secretary of the Cgil “the so-called credit license is a joke”.

RETURN TO NUCLEAR, BOOM OF SIGNATURES FOR CALENDA’S PROPOSAL

A popular initiative bill that commits the government to immediately reintroduce nuclear energy into the national electricity mix. It was presented by the deputy and leader of Azione, Carlo Calenda, together with the other promoters gathered in the committee ‘Nuclear energy? Yes, please’. In less than 24 hours, the proposal has already collected over 16,000 signatures. A result that pushes Calenda to write to the parliamentarians of the majority and opposition to obtain new members. “In all the parties there are exponents in favor of nuclear power – says the former minister – mine is a transversal appeal addressed to them”.
