SANTANCHÈ, ASKED FOR COMMITMENT TO TRIAL FOR FALSE BALANCE SHEET
The Milan prosecutor’s office has requested the indictment of the Minister of Tourism Daniela Santanchè and 16 other people. Among these are her sister, niece and partner Dimitri Kunz. The accusation is of false accounting in the Visibilia case, the group founded by the Fratelli d’Italia senator and from which she relinquished offices and shares in 2022. A request for indictment is already pending against Minister Santanché for the alleged aggravated fraud INPS damages for the management of the redundancy fund during the Covid period. “What is Meloni waiting for to ask for his resignation?” asks the Democratic Party. While Deputy Prime Minister Antonio Tajani remains a guarantor: “We are waiting to see what will happen”, says the Foreign Minister.
SALVINI REPLIES TO MATTARELLA: “MINORITY DICTATORSHIP IN ITALY”
“No to state absolutism and limitless authority, majorities do not violate the rights of minorities”. Harsh warning from the President of the Republic, Sergio Mattarella, yesterday in Trieste in his speech at the Social Week of Catholics in Italy. Speaking about the reforms, the head of state invites us not to give in “to contingent sensitivities of the political dispute”. “Absolutism of the majority? If anything in Italy there is the dictatorship of minorities”, replies the leader of the League Matteo Salvini. “The head of state must always be respected, let’s not pull him one way or the other”, is the comment of the other deputy prime minister and leader of Forza Italia Antonio Tajani. League sources then specified that “Salvini has great respect for Mattarella”.
WORK. MELONI: “NEW INSPECTORS, WE WILL DOUBLE CONTROLS”
Over 1,600 more inspectors to increase controls in the workplace, particularly in the agricultural sector, to combat exploitation and accidents. Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni announced them during a conference dedicated to the Chamber. The new inspectors will therefore “double those in service”, added the prime minister. The Minister of Justice Carlo Nordio also spoke on the topic. According to the Minister of the Seal, “criminal laws are often not effective. The first element of deterrence – says Nordio – is therefore control and it needs to be strengthened”. Finally, for the Minister of Agriculture, Francesco Lollobrigida, “there is no acceptable number of victims of accidents at work, each number is accompanied by the word ‘too much'”.
CYBERSECURITY. ATTACKS ON SMEs INCREASED BY 625%
In 2023, cyber attacks on businesses increased by 625%. The National Cybersecurity Agency reports this, noting that the incursions are mainly generated from Russian-speaking areas. The Undersecretary for Publishing Alberto Barachini presented an institutional campaign on cybersecurity aimed at businesses. The goal, he says, is to “increase awareness of the risks.” Barachini urges “companies to report because many try to resolve the issue on their own to avoid being described as fragile to the outside world”. For the director of the Cybersecurity Agency, Bruno Frattasi, companies must “strengthen their digital security, also through training”.
