The world of cinema was received at the Quirinale by the President of the Republic, Sergio Mattarella, for the presentation of the nominations for the 69th edition of the David di Donatello, which will be awarded this evening in the Cinecittà studios. There are 171 Italian films in the competition, for 20 statuettes, to which are added the lifetime achievement awards for the actress Milena Vukotic and for the composer Giorgio Moroder, and the special one for the Tg1 journalist Vincenzo Mollica. Paola Cortellesi, making her directorial debut with ‘There’s Still Tomorrow’, collected 19 nominations. Following are ‘Io Capitano’ by Matteo Garrone with 15 and ‘La Chimera’ by Alice Rohrwacher with 13. For Mattarella “we need cinema, its sensitivity, its art, its plural visions. The history of cinema tells us he made his abilities known and appreciated”.
Celebration of the 163rd anniversary of the birth of the Italian army. Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni, Defense Minister Guido Crosetto and Army Chief of Staff Carmine Masiello participated in the commemoration at the Tor di Quinto military racecourse in Rome. On this occasion, a simulation of a war scenario is staged: ground troops, fighter bombers, paratroopers and transport helicopters alternate with artillery fire, grenades, explosions and air rescues. The Prime Minister presents some decorations to the Army leaders. For Minister Crosetto “the world has changed and the Army must also adapt. A difficult challenge but which also concerns Parliament and the Italian institutions”.
More nursery schools to improve educational offerings and help Italian families. This is the objective of the decree signed by the Minister of Education, Giuseppe Valditara. A ‘Nursery Plan’ which is included among the objectives of the Pnrr and which is worth 734.9 million euros allocated to Municipalities and Metropolitan Cities, in order to reach the target set by the European Commission. For Valditara “this is an investment to which we attribute a strategic value for the quality of the school system and beyond”. The minister explains that the government wants to “meet the needs of families and in particular of women, to whom we offer an additional tool for reconciling work and motherhood”.
In March, employed people increase and unemployed people decrease. This was reported by Istat, noting that the growth in employment compared to last month is the effect of the increase in both employees, which reach 18 million 793 thousand, and self-employed workers, equal to 5 million 56 thousand. The employment rate rises to 62.1%, the unemployment rate falls to 7.2%, among young people it stands at 20.1% (-2.3 points). Labor Minister Marina Calderone says she is satisfied and encouraged by “a new employment record and the decrease in unemployment”. The minister claims that to the measures already adopted “we have added those of the Cohesion Decree, which in the labor part is worth 2 billion and 800 million euros, designed to promote good, quality work”.
