There is talk of European elections, Flash mob of the Green Left Alliance in front of the Ministry of Agriculture and the Pope's appeal for migrants

EUROPEAN. MELONI: LET’S SEND THE LEFT TO THE OPPOSITION IN THE EU TOO

A few days before the vote for the European elections, the political debate heats up and the President of the Republic Sergio Mattarella comes under fire. Yesterday the League’s attack on the Head of State guilty of having also celebrated European membership on Republic Day. Today Matteo Salvini softens the tone by excluding a “controversy with President Mattarella who has my respect”. The deputy prime minister predicts “an excellent result for his party, superior to that of the political ones” and brands the hypotheses of the Minister of Economy Giancarlo GioRgetti towards the European Commission as “fantasies”. The Forza Italia leader praises the “great qualities” of Giorgetti but also of Minister Fitto. For Antonio Tajani, however, in Europe “the first major party is that of the European People’s Party and Forza Italia will be decisive for any majority”. Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni indicates a “very simple objective: to create an alternative majority, finally sending the left of every color into opposition”.

GREEN FLASH MOB-LEFT AT MASAF: STOP PESTICIDES

Flash mob of the Green Left Alliance in front of the Ministry of Agriculture to say no to the use of pesticides in agriculture. ‘Stop poisons on dishes’, is the slogan displayed by the two co-spokesmen, Angelo Bonelli and Nicola Fratoianni in front of the entrance to the ministry. Avs also illustrated the bill, to be presented in Parliament, for the regulation and gradual reduction of the use of pesticides. “The government – explain the promoters – and in particular the minister Lollobrigida thought of responding to the farmers’ protest by putting pesticides back into circulation but this is not the solution – they conclude – also because people are getting sick”.

EU. SCHLEIN: EUROPE IS US, FORWARDING THE INTEGRATION PROCESS

“We need more Europe”, because “Europe is us”. For this reason “the integration process must continue”. A few days after the vote, the leader of the Democratic Party, Elly Schlein, continues her electoral campaign: “Today I am at stage 111”, says the Dem secretariat, busy in Lazio between Tivoli, Ferentino and Frosinone. Alliances in the European Parliament will be decided after the vote, explains Schlein, whose objective is to place the PSE in first place. Then a jab at the Prime Minister: “The attack that came from the League yesterday on the President of the Republic, on Republic Day, is very serious, but I think it is even more serious that Meloni did not find the time in 24 hours to take the distances”.

“JOURNS OF HOPE LIKE THE BIBLICAL EXODUS”, THE POPE’S APPEAL

The migrants of our time as in a “biblical exodus”. The comparison comes from Pope Francis in the message for the World Day of Migrants and Refugees, which will be celebrated on September 29th. “Like the people of Israel at the time of Moses – underlines the Pontiff – migrants often flee from situations of oppression and abuse, of insecurity and discrimination, of lack of development prospects”. Francis denounces: “Like the Jews in the desert, migrants find many obstacles on their journey, they are tested by thirst and hunger; they are exhausted by fatigue and illness; they are tempted by desperation”.
