There is talk of the premiership, civilian massacre in Rafah, Pnrr and taxi strike

AWARD WINNING. IT’S STILL A CLASH BETWEEN MELONS AND SCHLEIN

The clash over the premiership does not subside. Giorgia Meloni accuses the opposition: “They don’t want the reform – she says – because Pd and Cinquestelle are the forces for the preservation of the status quo and they want to continue to govern in the palace”. “Meloni – replies Schlein – has gone from ‘make or break’ to ‘who cares’ about the outcome of the referendum”. For the secretary of the Democratic Party, the lightness with which the Prime Minister exchanges the Constitution for her personal destiny is shocking. Matteo Renzi also urges the prime minister: “If he loses the referendum he will have to resign, whether he wants to or not.” Meloni, meanwhile, is looking to the European elections and distancing himself from Ursula von der Leyen. “With her it is only institutional collaboration – he specifies – in Europe there is room to build a different majority”.

MO. MASSACRE OF CIVILIANS IN RAFAH, BIPARTISAN INDIGNATION

Outrage and protests after the attack by the Israeli army in Rafah which caused 45 civilian deaths. French President Immanuel Macron says he is “outraged by the attack” and Turkish Erdogan promises to take “Netanyahu to court”. Even in Italy there are voices of condemnation from both the left and the right. Foreign Minister Antonio Tajani reiterates his opposition to the attack and open to the recognition of the State of Palestine as long as “it is not led by Hamas”. Guido Crosetto is more clear: “Israel is sowing hatred that will involve children and grandchildren”, says the head of the Defense Ministry the Democratic Party leader, Elly Schlein, “the European Union must move with one voice to stop Netanyahu’s madness”.

PNRR. MELONS: PHASE 2, ITALY FIRST FOR OBJECTIVES ACHIEVED

In recent months “we have done an extraordinary job” which “has allowed Italy to be in first place in Europe for objectives achieved and financial progress of the PNRR”. Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni claimed this at the first meeting of the Pnrr coordination cabin, which met this morning in Rome. Now, explains the Prime Minister, “we are entering ‘Phase 2’, the most important, that of the “concrete implementation of the reforms and the grounding of all strategic investments”. The president of the Anci, Antonio Decaro, on the other hand he complains that “unfortunately the season of cuts is returning, which for this year amount to 200 million euros as per the budget law”. The association of municipalities stigmatizes “that the cut will be made with coefficients that take more away from those he had more resources from the Pnrr”.

NEW TAXI STRIKE ON THE 5TH AND 6TH: THE GOVERNMENT IS NOT LISTENING TO US

The protest of striking taxi drivers returns on 5 and 6 June. The unions complain about the failure to convene after the national stop on May 21st, “against the widespread phenomena of illegal activity”. For taxi drivers “with a rental authorization obtained in Calabria it is not possible to continue to be a taxi driver in Rome or Milan with impunity, thus preventing local administrations from being able to size the workforce according to needs”. The “unfair competition” of the platforms is also targeted by the protest which comes on the eve of the European elections. For trade unionists, “the government must reopen the discussion, which was interrupted after the arrival of Uber in our country, to define a framework of rules that combats illegal activity”.
