CAPACI. MATTARELLA: IT WAS AN ATTACK ON DEMOCRACY

“The mafia is always lurking but it is destined to end.” Sergio Mattarella says so, recalling the Capaci massacre 32 years ago in which judge Giovanni Falcone died, with his wife and escort. “It was an attack on democracy”, underlines the President of the Republic, who invites us to “always keep our guard up against the mafia”. Giorgia Meloni also remembers Falcone and Borsellino “heroes – she says – who fought for a free society”. Ignazio La Russa remembers them because “they did not lower their heads to the threats of organized crime”. For his part, deputy prime minister Antonio Tajani writes to Maria Falcone, the judge’s sister, “to pay homage to the memory of those who lost their lives on that tragic day”.

SUPERBONUS DECREE. GET FREE FROM THE CHAMBER, IT’S THE LAW

The decree on the superbonus obtains the definitive green light from the Chamber and thus becomes law. 150 deputies voted in favour, 109 against. The main innovation desired by Minister Giancarlo Giorgetti is the so-called “Spread-deductions”: the period in which the deductions for expenses related to building bonuses incurred since January are to be distributed increases from four to ten years 2024. There will also be a stop from 2025 to compensation for banks and credit insurance companies with INPS and INAIL contributions. And then, following the parliamentary changes, the Municipalities were given the possibility of carrying out anti-fraud checks in the application of construction tax breaks, retaining up to 50% of the amount recovered. Finally, stop the transfer of residual installments for those who have already opted for the deduction.

DIALOGUE AND UNITY, ORSINI PRESIDENCY KICKS OFF IN CONFINDUSTRIA

He calls for an end to anti-industrial policies by the EU and says he is in favor of nuclear power, as long as it is “clean”. He is ready “to present zero-cost proposals” to the government in view of the budget and defines it as “madness to talk about the Jobs Act at a time when young people are choosing where to go to work”. Confindustria’s new course begins today, with the election of Emanuele Orsini as president for the four-year period 2024-28 with 99.5% of the votes. The number one on Viale dell’Astronomia meets the press to present his program. For Orsini, dialogue with unions “is necessary and must be constructive. I try to unite”. On the superbonus it is said “we agree that it should be closed, but – he says – let’s at least get the businesses to finish the work and pay off the credit”. As for autonomy, Orsini asks to “review some aspects” because “it is anachronistic to divide the country at this moment”.

PREMIERED. SENATE IN STALLOMY, FOR A MAJORITY FOR A SHORT TIME

The Government’s objective of presenting itself at the European elections with the banner of the Senate’s green light to the bill on the premiership could fail. Thanks to the tight deadlines and the obstructionism of the opposition which has presented over 3 thousand amendments and is fielding an infinite series of interventions in the Chamber. Only next week remains available to the majority to carry forward the process before the European elections. Then the chambers will be closed in view of the elections on 8 and 9 June. For Forza Italia group leader Maurizio Gasparri, obstructionism “is part of democracy but we have the right to decide”.
