PALERMO – The minibus of the Sicilian Spinal Injury Association of Palermo has been stolen. The theft occurred on Thursday night, in via Aci, where the association’s yellow Fiat Ducato was parked. “The vehicle, with a hydraulic platform for lifting wheelchairs, was used for the transport of disabled people and was used daily to transport some of our users suffering from various pathologies to school and therapy centres”, reports Giovanni Rotino< /strong>, president of the association.

THE APPEAL OF THE PRESIDENT OF THE ASSOCIATION

An unfortunate action committed against the weakest people – underlines Rotino – who are now forced to stay at home”. Rotino, who filed a complaint with the police, is appealing to anyone with information. “I ask everyone without distinction for help. Anyone who spots the minibus do not hesitate to contact us or report it to the police. At the same time I ask the institutions – concludes Rotino – the possibility of having a plot of land, a confiscated asset to secure our vehicles during the night”.

SOLIDARITY FROM THE ORDER OF MEDICI

“We express our solidarity with the leaders of the Sicilian Spinal Medullary Association of Palermo – says Toti Amato, president of the Palermo Medical Association – and with all the operators who in various capacities, on a daily basis, have ensured, for over twenty years, a vitally important service for the disabled who live in our city”.
