Already in 2021, however, the Supreme Court had condemned the company to compensate its customers with approximately two billion dollars.

Now, the American pharmaceutical giant has decided to close the matter by paying 6.475 billion dollars over 25 years, to put an end to civil lawsuits. By doing so, 99.75% of disputes would be resolved through the declaration of bankruptcy of a subsidiary of the company, LTL Management. The remaining causes will be addressed outside the proposed resolution plan. In total, the disputes that could be resolved involve around 54 thousand women. The plan will be validated if 75% of the customers who have sued accept it.
