MILAN – The hydrogeological emergency continues in Milan. The Municipality informs that the Seveso lamination tank, in operation since 6.30 am, which has so far avoided flooding in the Niguarda, Prato Centenaro and Isola districts, is now full. The rains continue to fall heavily on the city and on the territories to the north and north-east crossed by the Seveso and Lambro basins. Heavy rain is expected in Milan throughout the night and there remains high concern about the high risk of flooding. The Municipal Operations Center (COC) of the Civil Protection has been active since yesterday to monitor the hydrometric levels of the rivers and to coordinate interventions in the city where the Civil Protection and MM teams are at work, including with water pumps, to monitor the basin of rolling of via Aldo Moro and the underpasses. Numerous interventions on the road by the local police, while the green teams operate on fallen trees and branches. The Ponte Lambro neighborhood was particularly affected due to the high level of the river which overflowed and caused the manholes to regurgitate, flooding the streets, cellars and garages of residential buildings.
“Maximum attention” due to bad weather on the A4 motorway network, towards Turin, with closure of the toll booths at the entrance between Trezzo sull’Adda and Ospitaletto and traffic diversion onto Brebemi, further south. This was announced by the Milanese prefecture where the Rescue Coordination Center was activated at 4pm due to widespread reports of flooding in the metropolitan city, mainly of roads and cellars and to coordinate interventions in the supra-municipal area. In the city of Milan, the Ponte Lambro district close to the river and the Niguarda area are the subject of “particular attention” due to possible flooding linked to the Seveso river.
