ROME – Spain will recognize the existence of a State of Palestine according to the borders prior to the 1967 war, therefore also extending to part of Jerusalem, the West Bank and the Gaza Strip: it has declared today in parliament by the head of the Iberian government, Pedro Sanchez. The measure, the newspaper El Mundo reports in its online edition, will be approved next Tuesday by the Madrid Council of Ministers. “We are required to act both in Ukraine and in Palestine and without double standards” said Sanchez, also referring to the support given to Kiev in the conflict with Russia. “We will not allow the possibility of two states to be destroyed.” According to Sanchez, who did not refer to the Hamas organization, Madrid will recognize that of the Palestinian National Authority (PNA) as legitimate power.

NORWAY READY TO RECOGNIZE THE STATE OF PALESTINE

Norway will recognize the existence of a State of Palestine next week: this was announced by Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Store, despite a warning from Israel. The communication, released on the social network Facebook, should be formalized next Tuesday and could precede others. Ireland’s choice should also be known soon: the Dublin executive will hold a press conference later that day.
