ROME – Forty-eight million euros in fake banknotes, perfectly reproduced, ready to be placed on the market. Never have so many 50 euro banknotes, never for such a large amount: in fact, according to what Dire has learned, this is the most important seizure of counterfeit banknotes ever made in Italy. A raid at dawn in the province of Naples, in the eastern area of the metropolitan city, by the Special Currency Police Unit of the Guardia di Finanza, the Fiamme Gialle department that operates to protect the financial markets, together with the Economic and Financial Police Unit of the Financial Police of Naples. Investigation lasted 10 months, investigators followed the counterfeiters in all organizational phases of the activity. The operation began this morning : two people were caught red-handed, another 5 arrested. The clandestine factory was seized.
