Natisone, the Prosecutor’s Office is investigating for manslaughter: were there errors in the rescue operations?

The Udine Prosecutor's Office is investigating the rescue effort in the case of the three young people swallowed by the sudden flood of the Natisone: phone calls and logistical choices are being examined. Were there any errors?

BOLOGNA – The file opened by the Udine Prosecutor’s Office to shed light on the death of the three boys missing in the waters of the Natisone river after the sudden flood of Friday 31 May suggests the crime of manslaughter. There are currently no suspects. The Prosecutor’s Office, as was already clear in the last few hours even after the request from part of Minister Musumeci of a detailed report on the management of the rescue efforts, will carefully examine the rescue ‘machinery’, to understand if everything possible has been done and if there have been no delays or errors >. Such as the choice to fly the furthest helicopter (in Venice) and not the one that was a short distance from the site of the tragedy. In fact, in the first instance, the helicopter stationed at Venice airport was alerted and not the Sores Fvg medical helicopter which was in Campoformido, a few minutes’ flight from Premariacco.

Also the alarm phone calls (the first, from Patrizia who later died, and followed by those from some passers-by who saw the young people trapped in the river) and finally also the billboards< /strong> relating to prohibitions and warnings of possible risks. Like that of “sudden floods”, which also exists for other rivers or streams in Italy but does not exist for the Natisone, a river which is however systematically subject to this phenomenon.
