The news, which is making the rounds on the web and causing great uproar, was reported by the Gazzettino di Treviso. The exemption of the two children from the lesson on Dante would have been decided by the Italian teacher. The request to exempt the two boys from attending lessons on the Divine Comedy, however, according to what Gazzettino reports, came from the two families, as it was a work with a religious theme. Obviously the news sparked a lot of controversy and the minister Giuseppe Valditara announced that he had sent inspectors to clarify the incident.

“We have arranged an inspection to verify the facts” in the school in the Treviso area where the families of two Muslim students have asked for their children to be exempted from the study of the Divine Comedy, “because an exclusion from the school program of one of the pillars of the history of literature for reasons that we have not yet fully understood is completely inadmissible“. The Minister of Education Giuseppe Valditara says this at the end of the meeting.
