Minister Musumeci thunders against the judiciary: “A minority is communist”

In Liguria, orphaned by governor Toti, the government representative attacks: "It's time to reclaim the primacy of politics"

ROME – The Toti investigation still shakes politics. In the hours immediately following the precautionary custody order against the President of the Liguria Region, there were those who spoke of clockwork justice, so much so as to induce the investigators to clarify the origins of the investigations, which began in 2020.

Well over a month from the European elections (8-9 June, ed.). Today, a new jab at the judiciary, or rather at a part of it, is launched by a member of the Government: the Minister for Civil Protection and Maritime Policies Nello Musumeci.

“PRJUDICE AGAINST THOSE WHO ARE NOT FROM THE LEFT”

From the De Portibus Festival in La Spezia, in the orphan land of its governor, he attacks: “The vast majority of the judiciary is made up of balanced, respectable people who earn well but want to do their duty. Then there is a minority, which was formed in universities, in far-left youth organizations, which remained communist. They feed on the source of resentment, of prejudice towards those who are not leftists. It’s well known.”

“LET’S GO BACK TO CLAIM THE PRIMATE OF POLITICS”

Musumeci then focuses on the relationship between politics and the judiciary, with the balance which, in his opinion, tips towards the latter: “Either we go back to claiming the primacy of politics, or otherwise the judiciary will continue to advance on terrain that is not it is his and politics will continue to have the complex of retreating. For thirty years now the judiciary has advanced by acquiring spaces that are not its own. If the judiciary advances, politics retreats. Politics – he added – has lost its authority , delegating tasks that are specific to politics to the judiciary. And if one of the two systems retreats, the balance on which democracy is based is undermined”.

THE RESPONSIBILITIES OF POLITICS AND “THE ROUGH APPLES”

For Musumeci, the fault lies not only with the “politicized judiciary”. The imbalance is also due to “the responsibility of politics which in the last twenty years has lost pride in its role: even within the political class there are some bad apples, but to eliminate them we must not wait for the public prosecutor’s office to arrive , it is politics itself that must have the courage to isolate the bad apple; because when the judiciary arrives the damage has already been done – he added -. The same goes for the judiciary. The majority of the balanced judiciary must neutralize those who are still convinced that they can use such a sophisticated weapon as that of the judiciary to avenge who knows what cultural and mental complexes”, he concluded.
