ROME – The investigation into the death of Michele Merlo, the singer who died 3 years ago at the age of 28 from fulminant leukemia, has been closed. The general practitioner, accused of manslaughter for having misdiagnosed the artist, will not go to trial as decided by the Vicenza preliminary investigation judge Nicolò Gianesini.
Merlo, when he was visited by Vitaliano Pantaleo in 2021, had a clear purple bruise on his leg, a sign of leukemia. And so the doctor prescribed him an ointment. After a few days the news of his death arrived. The investigating judge ordered the dismissal due to the impossibility of establishing with certainty that a correct diagnosis would have saved the former Amici competitor.
“After two and a half years of pillorying, my client can finally breathe a sigh of relief and see his professional figure rehabilitated”, commented Andrea Biasia, Pantaleo’s lawyer. For Merlo’s parents
