Mecca, at least 19 pilgrims died from heat stroke

ROME – At least 19 people died of heat stroke during the Hajj pilgrimage to Mecca. Temperatures reached 48 degrees. This was reported by the CNN website.

“The victims are Jordanian and Iranian citizens,” said the Foreign Ministry in Amman, which is coordinating with the Saudi authorities in Jeddah for burial procedures and the possible transfer of the bodies to Jordan. The news came as nearly 2 million Muslims gathered at the top of Mount Arafat.
