Maturity 2024, use of mobile phones and PCs: what you need to know
The Ministry of Education and Merit has published a note regarding the organizational aspects of the state exam
ROME – The Ministry of Education and Merit published a note on May 30th on the technical-operational and organizational aspects of the state exam through which reference is made to the use of cell phones and PCs during the 2024 high school exams.

Use of mobile phones and electronic equipment on the days of written tests
On the days of written tests it is absolutely forbidden to: use mobile phones, smartphones and smartwatches of any type, devices of any nature and type capable of to consult files, to send photographs and images, infrared or ultraviolet light equipment of any kind, without prejudice to the scientific and/or graphic calculators listed in the notes of the undersigned General Management n. 9466 of 6 March 2024 and n. 22213 of May 29, 2024.
Furthermore, the use of: portable electronic devices of the handheld type or portable personal computers of any kind capable of connecting outside school buildings via wireless connections, commonly used in schools, is prohibited , or to the normal telephone network with any protocol.
In case of violation, according to the regulations in force regarding public exams, exclusion from all exams is expected. The school directors, in addition to reminding this prohibition also applies to the presidents and members of the examination commissions, who have the task of supervising the electronic-telematic equipment supplied to the schools, in order to avoid improper use of them during the written tests.
MATURITY 2024, THE INTERNET IT WILL BE DEACTIVATED ON THE DAYS OF THE WRITTEN TESTS
On each of the days dedicated to written tests, the use of the internet will be allowed until the printing of the traces is completed and exclusively by the computers used: by the school director or by his/her representative; by the director of general and administrative services, where authorized by the school director or whoever takes his place; by the head office contact person(s).
During the written tests, the connection to the internet of all other computers present within the school premises involved in the written tests must, as a rule, be deactivated. Furthermore, in order to guarantee the correct conduct of the written tests, the Ministry’s IT structure will monitor, in collaboration with the Communications Police, to prevent irregular use of the internet by any person and of fixed and mobile telephone connections. .
Specific cases
The simplification and statistics relating to the methods of sending tests via electronic parcel for candidates with visual disabilities and for candidates taking the exam in prison or hospital sections. Any special needs, including requests for a ‘paper package’, for candidates with visual disabilities, must be represented through the specific functions present on the SIDI. The tests in Braille format and the others that cannot be sent using the ‘electronic package’ method will have to be collected from the central administration premises with methods that will be subsequently made known.
