ROME – Five hundred demonstrators protested in Kiev for LGBTQIA+ rights, on the occasion of Pride: the first two years after the invasion of Russia. Some employees of various Western embassies and many Ukrainian soldiers, engaged in the war, also participated in the procession to demand rights for homosexual people in the army. For security reasons the demonstrators were only able to march for a few meters but there was no shortage of tension. Some ultranationalists tried to prevent Pride.
“Despite the threats, the pressure, all the dangers and even the downpour, we came out to demand our rights,” the organizers wrote on X.
