A year after the events, work continues to bring the 6-year-old girl home despite "highly complex investigations"

FLORENCE – The investigation into the disappearance of Kataleya Alvarez Chicchlo “remains highly complex, a circumstance aggravated by the fact that the news of the disappearance arrived with a time gap compared to the disappearance, but also because we believe, based on the elements collected, that it is the result of the implementation of a plan that has been well organized in detail, and not an extemporaneous activity“.

This is what the chief prosecutor of Florence, Filippo Spiezia, declared during a press conference to take stock of the investigative activities one year after the disappearance of the little girl of Peruvian origins ‘former Astor hotel. “We are continuing on multiple tracks – he adds – the difference compared to the initial phase is that our work is more selective with respect to the hypotheses taken into consideration“.

THE FOUR TRACKS FOLLOWED

In particular, he underlines, “the leads are drug trafficking, the room racket at the former Astor hotel, mistaken identity, possible sexual abuse”. Spiezia specifies: “The investigations continue, they have never been interrupted. Not only have we continued to cultivate possible new leads, but we also proceeded with an ongoing re-reading of the investigative materials, information collected in the first phase of investigation, because evidently with a greater familiarity of names, faces, sounds and voices of people it is now possible to enhance detailed aspects compared to an initial investigation phase”.

“We have prospects for short-term developments – adds Spiezia – this will also depend on the outcome of the further activities that have been delegated. We recently met all the investigators, we spoke with them an appointment in the summer, for the end of July, to take a further point on the situation and proceed with a first summary of the elements collected”.
