Kabosu, muse of the most famous meme in the world, has passed away

From Japan, an adopted dog has become the most loved icon - even by Elon Musk - and has made the history of the web

RIMINI – She fell asleep forever with her human life partner at her side, unaware that she was the dog who made the history of the web. Many will remember her “snout” transformed into the most famous meme in the world and the smiles she certainly managed to arouse. After a long life – 18 years is a long time for a dog – Kabosu “flew onto the bridge”. his adopter, Atsuko Sato, announced it today from Japan via social media: “To all of you who loved him, on the morning of May 24th, Kabosu crossed the rainbow bridge – she wrote – Thank you all so much for your support over the years.  She passed very peacefully without pain, as if she fell asleep feeling the warmth of my hands caressing her.  Thank you all so much for loving Kabosu all these years.” .

Kabosu is a female Shiba Inu, an Asian dog breed, which ended up becoming first the most famous meme of all time and then even the image of the cryptocurrency most loved by Elon Musk, the “dogecoin“. And to think that her life started in the worst possible way: abandoned together with other puppies after the closure of the breeding farm where she was born, she was skipped by an animal rights association and then adopted by Atsuko Sato in 2008. A few of hers were enough photos published in a blog dedicated to animals to become a web icon, thanks to the countless shares received all over the world. Among her images, the most famous one immortalized her lying on the sofa with her paws crossed and a kind of “smile”. It was precisely this photograph, taken in 2010, that made her famous, like the evergreen image of another icon, but a human one, Marilyn Monroe.
