Inter, Zhang’s alarm: “The club is at risk, we will continue to look for a solution”

With a long letter published on the club's website, president Steven Zhang explains that Inter's stability is at risk

ROMA – Inter’s stability is at risk. President Steven Zhang revealed this in a long letter published on the club’s website. The words of the Nerazzurri manager come a few days before the Oaktree loan expired.

The years 2020 and 2021 “have been unforgettable for our generation – wrote Zhang – as the global pandemic has profoundly changed many aspects of our lives. To continue to support Inter, after having already invested in the Club over billion, we opened the credit line with Oaktree, with the aim of continuing the winning project we started in 2016. Since then, my management and I have been committed to developing successes in the field, at the same time maintaining rigorous discipline financial”. A work that “has borne fruit. In the eight years under our management, together with our staff, players and coaches, we have won seven trophies, two European finals, and twice reached the top of the Serie A championship The legendary second star is a testament to our growth and success. Of course, all of our partners, including Oaktree, have benefited from achieving such incredible milestones on and off the field.”

Steven Zhang then explained that “over the months leading up to the expiration date of the financing structure with Oaktree, we made every attempt to find an amicable solution with our partner, including offering multiple opportunities for Oaktree to obtain a full and immediate financial return. Unfortunately,our efforts so far have been exasperated by legal threatsand the lack of meaningful involvement from Oaktree it was very frustrating and disappointing, but this behavioris now creating a risk situation for the Club which could seriously jeopardize its stability“.
Zhang however reassured Inter fans: “On behalf of Inter and as President, I want to reassure the hundreds of millions of fans around the world that we will do everything possible to protect our colours, our founding values and our stability . We are committed to working towards a peaceful resolution with Oaktree and to continuing our history of success for our beloved Inter”.
