From the Festiva dell'Economia, the president of the Turin Chamber of Commerce speaks a few days after the birth of the Ai4Industry Foundation on the importance of knowledge in the industrial applications of AI

TURIN – The application and success of artificial intelligence in manufacturing, including small and medium-sized enterprises, also passes through “new business leaders, characterized by strong preparation and awareness to manage business processes with new skills. Artificial intelligence that is, they will be able to take care of repetitive and simple operations, reserving the task of team coordination, creativity and vision to the man or woman”. This is the emphasis placed and made on the occasion of the recent Turin Economic Festival by the president of the Turin Chamber of Commerce, Dario Gallina >, with respect to the ongoing economic dynamics and a few days after the birth, right in the Piedmontese capital, of the ‘Ai4Industry’ Foundation with a precise government mandate: to oversee the applications of artificial intelligence to industrial sectors, starting from aerospace and automotive.

Artificial intelligence “is certainly an opportunity – continues Gallina – but in a manufacturing country also made up of many small service companies, it can represent a great threat to employment. This is why it is Strong preparation and awareness of the new characteristics that must distinguish business leaders is necessary”. In an era in which knowledge “will almost be a commodity that can be used at any time, at very low cost and with very high quality – continues the president of the Turin Chamber of Commerce – it is necessary to know how to develop and enhance characteristics rather than notions”, even at inside companies. “Artificial intelligence and sustainability are key words for the social and economic context and, consequently, companies must equip themselves with a governance capable of relating to these dimensions and pursuing the objectives connected to them”.< br>

In this transformative path, training will also have an essential role. “Thanks to the presence of the Polytenic and the University of Turin – underlines Gallina – we will be able to guarantee a strong presence of young graduates who will be able to find work in an area increasingly devoted to innovation and technological and scientific research”. The National Foundation for Artificial Intelligence, in fact, “is a great opportunity for our territory to develop an ecosystem made up of start-ups and businesses that will be able to create fertile ground for the development of innovation, therefore, attract investments in artificial intelligence, in particular to develop vertical applications for the manufacturing, aerospace and automotive industries”.

With the Grande Manifesto di Torino Social Impact, born on the initiative of the Turin Chamber of Commerce, “the territory is at the forefront also with regards to sustainability issues – adds Gallina – We have started training initiatives for the measurement of social impact and this becomes a new performance indicator of companies, which will be evaluated on their impact capacity, as well as on their ability to develop a sustainable and environmentally compatible activity”, concludes the president of the Turin chamber of commerce.
