In Rome the Race for the Cure, Mattarella: “>Thank you for what you do”

Now in its 25th edition, the 'Race for the Cure' is the largest event in the world to fight breast cancer

ROME – Special departure for this year’s Race for the Cure. Also speaking at the event was President Mattarella who spoke shortly before the start of the sporting event dedicated to the prevention of breast cancer. Thanks to the “Komen foundation for this initiative, but above all for what it does every day for this fundamental front for humanity. Thank you for what you do and have a good race”, he said.

Now in its 25th edition, the ‘Race for the Cure‘ is the largest event in the world for the fight against breast cancer. The protagonists, of course, are the ‘women in pink’: all those who are facing or have faced breast cancer, who, with their special pink shirt, raise public awareness of the importance of prevention and send a strong message of encouragement to the 56,000 women in Italy who deal with the disease every year.

For the twenty-fifth anniversary edition, the Treccani Italian Encyclopedia Institute, which sponsors the event, has created both an exclusive poster of the Definition Line, containing the definition of the word ‘pink’, the Race’s chromatic emblem, and a postcard with the definition of the word ‘pink’ on the front and that of ‘Donne in Rosa’ on the back and the QR Code which will automatically link to the Treccani Emporium page, where it will be possible to purchase the poster, the proceeds of which will be donated to the cause of the fight against breast cancer. Not only. This year there will also be a special notebook of the Definition Line. “We are proud to have sponsored one of the most significant events in the fight against breast cancer at an international level and to have made our energies and creative abilities available to Race for the Cure to create an exclusive poster, with great symbolic value, the sale of which will be entirely donated to research and prevention – explains Massimo Bray, General Director of Treccani – It is a small gesture that we hope can make a significant contribution to the identification of increasingly effective treatments against this disease”.

Thanks to the funds raised with the Race for The Cure, Komen Italia will carry out activities to support women who are facing breast cancer, study prizes for young researchers, collaborations with other associations in Italy and free prevention days aimed to women in conditions of social fragility thanks to the Prevention Caravan. Godmother of the event is the actress Maria Grazia Cucinotta, who has been alongside Komen Italia for years together with the actress Rosanna Banfi, godmother of the Women in Pink. The Race also takes place in Bari, Bologna, Brescia and Matera.
