CAIVANO – “We have brought the State, the hope and the joy of normal things back to Caivano”: an emotional Giorgia Meloni speaks to Caivano, from the same place where atrocious violence took place only 9 months ago and which today it takes on a new life and new meanings for the population, but not only. The Prime Minister intervenes at the inauguration of the new former Delphinia sports centre, abandoned since 2018 and known for the episode of sexual violence against two minors which occurred in the summer of last year.
“THE STATE CAN NO LONGER TOLERATE FREE ZONES”
Upon her arrival, she was welcomed by the government commissioner for Caivano Fabio Ciciliano, the parish priest of Caivano Maurizio Patriciello and Monsignor Angelo Spinillo , bishop of Aversa. “Although Caivano’s challenge was one of my and the government’s main bets – continues the prime minister – perhaps I was not prepared for the emotion I felt today”. “Here the State and the institutions behaved as they should always do – he points out – they realized a problem, they proposed a solution, they made an announcement which did not fall on deaf ears, but became a fact that citizens can see , touching, living. This means lighting up hope in territories where too often it has been thought that there could be no hope.” And again: “Here – he insists – we started from a horror and the failure of the institutions, which here had failed to defend the weakest, to protect the smallest”.
“The nation – the prime minister again – has tolerated the free zones for too long, but the State cannot afford it. We came here saying that the tolerance of the free zones could not continue“.
THE EX DELPHINIA WILL BE NAMED AFTER PINO DANIELE
The former Delphinia, the Prime Minister then announces, will be named after the Neapolitan singer Pino Daniele. The new sports center is therefore inaugurated today, 28 May, after redevelopment and reconstruction works costing over 9 million euros have been carried out: with a swimming pool, two tennis courts, a multi-purpose court and a five-a-side football pitch, three padel, a bowling alley, an athletics track, a platform for the long jump and pole vault and a wall for sports climbing, . The structure, measuring 50 thousand square meters in total, will be able to host over 40 disciplines.
